📋 Description

• Oversee transmission engineering design, interpretation, application, and documentation of drawings, calculations, and designs • Ensure department designs and applications comply with applicable codes and authoritative standards • Delegate engineering responsibilities and activities within the Transmission Engineering department • Manage design and checking processes for multiple teams • Ensure training and development of Transmission Engineer Team Leaders, Transmission Engineers, and Transmission Engineering Technicians • Maintain design standards and training guidelines • Resolve issues between design teams and departments • Address technical questions from construction managers, field staff, project managers, customers, and representatives • Travel periodically to customer offices for project meetings and job sites for construction visits • Perform bi-yearly evaluations of reporting employees • Coordinate employee PTO scheduling • Recruit, hire, and train new engineers • Provide input on organizational structure, employee performance, continuing education, development, and disciplinary actions • Enforce department discipline policies • Perform additional duties assigned by the Vice President of Engineering

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor degree or higher in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering is required • PE is required • Previous design experience in overhead and underground transmission design, including grading, foundation design, PLS CADD design, plan and profiles, general arrangements, structure designs, steel details, sag tension, and wire stringing • Previous supervisory experience is required • Strong background in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Microstation, Civil 3D, MathCad, or PLS CADD is preferred • Ability to perform quality work within deadlines without direct supervision • Ability to interact professionally with employees and customers • Ability to work effectively as a department leader • Integrity and ethics in client relationships and communications • Regular communication with supervisors and teams regarding designs, concerns, studies, or tests • Willingness to participate in continued education and training • Overnight travel to active job sites • Clean driving record required because use of company vehicles is a requirement
