📋 Description

• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise applications using RPG IV, RPGLE, Free Format RPG, CLLE, SQL, and DB2 for i • Lead modernization of legacy IBM i applications through modular architecture, service programs, APIs, and modern development practices • Analyze, design, code, test, implement, and support business-critical applications • Identify and reduce technical debt while improving application scalability, maintainability, and performance • Design and optimize DB2 for i database solutions using Embedded SQL and advanced SQL capabilities • Develop and support APIs, web services, and integrations between IBM i and enterprise platforms • Troubleshoot and resolve complex application and database performance issues • Leverage AI development tools to accelerate development, testing, code analysis, documentation, and modernization efforts • Build and implement AI-driven development practices that improve engineering productivity and software quality • Evaluate emerging AI technologies and identify opportunities to automate software delivery activities • Mentor and develop engineering team members through technical guidance, code reviews, and best practices • Establish coding standards, documentation practices, and quality expectations • Partner with business, product, infrastructure, operations, and vendor teams to deliver technology solutions aligned with business objectives • Communicate technical designs, risks, dependencies, and recommendations to technical and business stakeholders

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of IBM i application development experience • Expert-level proficiency in RPG IV, RPGLE, Free Format RPG, CLLE, DB2 for i, and Embedded SQL • Proven experience modernizing large IBM i applications and reducing technical debt • Experience designing and developing APIs, web services, and enterprise integrations • Strong understanding of application architecture, design patterns, and software engineering best practices • Experience mentoring developers and providing technical leadership • Hands-on experience with AI-powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude Code, or similar platforms • Experience building, implementing, or leveraging AI agents to improve software development, testing, documentation, and engineering productivity • Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills • Experience with Java, Python, .NET, or other modern programming languages preferred • Experience integrating IBM i applications with cloud platforms and SaaS solutions preferred • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps practices preferred • Experience with event-driven architecture and modern integration frameworks preferred • Experience in healthcare, insurance, or other highly regulated industries preferred • IBM i-related certifications preferred • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; high school diploma plus 4 years of relevant work experience accepted
