📋 Description

• Take ownership of customer-facing features and products • Roll out new developments within weeks of joining • Engage in projects from conception and design through implementation and delivery • Collaborate with stakeholders to refine solutions • Operate using lean and agile development approaches • Collaborate across departments • Explain technical aspects to non-technical stakeholders and translate their needs into implementable solutions • Design, build, and operate backend services for Ground News • Improve observability, reliability, and performance • Report to the Head of Engineering • Work with the backend chapter and Core Experience pod

🎯 Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience with TypeScript, including Async/Await syntax • At least 3 years of experience with NodeJs • At least 3 years of experience with relational databases, ideally MySQL/Postgres • Experience with ElasticSearch, Redis/Valkey, or similar caching system • Track record of shipping and scaling reliable services for a successful consumer product • Experience planning and executing safe rollouts, monitoring stability, and mitigating risk • Strong desire to learn and progress as a developer • Ability to think critically and make informed decisions • Ability to write efficient and scalable code and recognize bad patterns • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
