📋 Description

• Chair the Mobile Guild and set architectural direction across iOS and Android • Reconcile firmware, backend, and mobile constraints before feature work begins • Define and drive AI-native development standards, tooling, guardrails, and evaluation frameworks • Put AI-driven engineering practices into production and measure cycle-time and defect-rate improvements • Own Release Readiness Reviews and approve mobile releases • Lead, coach, and career-path platform leads and developers across pods • Own the mobile hiring bar • Represent mobile engineering at the Betting Table and executive forums • Translate engineering investment into business terms • Partner with the VP of Product on roadmap sequencing and design quality • Sync weekly with the CTO on architecture and investment priorities • Help transition the monolithic mobile team into parallel Shape Up pods • Build the next layer of engineering leadership

🎯 Requirements

• AI-native engineering experience in practice, including implementing AI-driven development and leading engineers in adopting it • Hands-on iOS and Android expertise with SwiftUI, TCA, and Kotlin • Ability to review pull requests and maintain technical credibility with senior engineers • Proven leadership of a small-to-mid mobile team of approximately 10–15 engineers • Systems thinking across mobile, backend, and firmware • Ability to formalize on-device, service, and firmware trade-offs • Experience working with unreliable connectivity and data • Proven success shipping design-forward consumer apps at scale, including millions of users and high App Store ratings • Track record of improving engineering design quality • Experience recruiting, mentoring, and retaining high-caliber engineers • Ability to lead a distributed, Europe-based team with early Eastern-time overlap • History of driving organizational change and maintaining conviction under delivery pressure • Personally reviewed pull requests or worked in production code within the last year • Nice to have: consumer health/wearables, connected devices/IoT, mobility, automotive, or premium consumer product experience • Nice to have: experience with contractor or engineering-partner staffing models • Nice to have: AI/ML integrated into the product • Ability to work in the U.S.; visa support requirements addressed in application
