📋 Description

• Manage a diverse, multi-jurisdictional client portfolio across registrations and closures, notice resolution, audits, and special projects • Monitor HCM systems and communications for actionable items and ensure timely completion • Provide clear, ongoing status updates and manage client expectations • Build and maintain relationships with client contacts, including C-suite leadership • Lead tax discussions and translate complex tax matters into clear, actionable business terms • Register and maintain state and local payroll tax accounts, including withholding, unemployment, paid leave, and disability accounts • Manage account activations, deactivations, portal enrollments, and updates while maintaining accurate HCM records • Support mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and FEIN/entity changes • Resolve payroll tax notices through case opening, return filing, issue research, agency responses, abatements, payments, and amendments • Conduct payroll tax audits and reconciliations to validate account numbers, SUI rates, and payment and filing frequencies • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accuracy and excellent client service • Maintain client files, trackers, procedures, and team resources • Track billable time daily and maintain an average annual utilization rate of 85%

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of payroll tax compliance experience, including registrations, notice resolution, and audits • Strong understanding of state and local payroll tax rules and filing calendars • Ability to stay current as regulations change • Client-facing experience with HR and executive leadership • Ability to manage multiple client accounts and competing deadlines • Strong organizational, collaboration, and critical-thinking skills • Experience with one or more payroll platforms, such as ADP, UKG, Paylocity, or Dayforce • Experience with state payroll tax agency portals • Basic to intermediate Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs • Preferred: prior experience in a multi-client services environment • Preferred: experience with ticketing/shared inbox tools and queue management
