📋 Description

• Lead teams building and operating cloud platforms, tooling, and cost-management practices • Own paved-path platform foundations, services, guardrails, deployment tooling, delivery practices, and cloud cost optimization • Champion paved-path approaches that reduce development, deployment, and support toil • Partner with strategic cloud and tooling vendors and ensure enterprise-wide capabilities are available • Apply experiment-driven, metrics-informed approaches, including modern AI and agentic workflows • Partner with Platform Reliability Engineering to balance reliability, developer experience, and cost • Grow cloud engineering talent and share capabilities across the organization • Negotiate with partners on staffing skilled engineering positions on product teams • Evaluate and demonstrate emerging technologies for enterprise and product-team adoption • Collaborate with UX, engineering, and product management to create secure, reliable, scalable software solutions • Document and review work to ensure quality and change-control standards • Write custom code and scripts to automate infrastructure, monitoring services, and test cases • Implement critical tooling and platforms with vendors and partners • Create dashboards, logging, alerting, and proactive responses • Contribute to destructive-testing, automation, and engineering-empowerment tools • Lead review-board sessions and drive operational excellence • Provide support for production software and act as a technical escalation point • Lead, mentor, coach, attract, retain, and develop Software Engineers • Conduct annual and mid-year reviews and guide team members across product teams • Promote modern software development practices and contribute to communities of practice • Build relationships with technology leaders at other companies to learn best practices

🎯 Requirements

• Must be eighteen years of age or older • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States • Mastery of an object-oriented programming language, preferably Java • Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience • 6 years of relevant work experience required; preferred range is 6–8 years, including leading engineering teams • Mastery of cloud platform engineering on major providers such as GCP or Azure, including compute, networking, storage, IAM, and core platform services • Mastery of cloud cost management and optimization (FinOps) • Mastery of modern deployment tooling and progressive delivery, including CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Spinnaker or TFE • Mastery of designing paved-path platforms and developer experiences, including APIs, self-service workflows, GUIs, CLIs, and documentation • Proficiency designing APIs, SDKs, and portals • Proficiency using customer feedback, adoption signals, and usage data to improve platform experience • Proficiency defining and tracking platform adoption and efficiency metrics • Proficiency in technical communication, including strategy documents, architecture reviews, and executive updates • Ability to understand complex technical and organizational systems quickly • Experience with delivery and developer-productivity frameworks such as DORA and CSAT • Experience applying AI and agentic workflows to platform and deployment engineering • Experience managing and growing individual contributors and managers • Experience managing and negotiating strategic vendor relationships • Experience translating high-level strategy into tactical execution • Proficiency supporting a 24x7 retail operation
