📋 Description

• Lead backend development and maintain server-side logic • Own services end to end, including deployment, operation, and production health • Maintain and improve production environments with CloudEng • Implement monitoring and alerting using tools such as OpenTelemetry, Sentry, Prometheus, and Grafana • Participate in on-call/off-hours support rotations • Triage and resolve production issues, investigate incidents, address bug reports, and maintain reliability • Rotate into support duties including releases, dependency updates, and stakeholder requests • Apply AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully • Partner with frontend, platform, CloudEng, product, UX, design, and support stakeholders • Contribute to API design and ensure backend systems, APIs, and data contracts meet stakeholder needs • Participate in code reviews and security/privacy reviews

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of software development experience focused on backend technologies • Strong professional experience with Python, TypeScript/Node.js, or Rust for back-end services • Experience leading back-end engineering projects • Proficiency with PostgreSQL and SQL query optimization • Relational schema design and migrations using a query builder such as Knex • Hands-on DevOps experience on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) • Docker-based build and deploy pipeline experience • Experience deploying, operating, and troubleshooting cloud services • Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Sentry and Grafana • Ownership of services in production, including on-call or off-hours support experience • Experience mentoring junior engineers • Experience driving technical excellence in code quality, testing, and process improvements • Bonus: performance/load testing • Bonus: IaC tools such as Terraform and Kubernetes • Bonus: open-source contributions or personal engineering projects • Bonus: Django experience
