📋 Description

• Design components of the lakehouse on Azure Databricks, including medallion layers from raw ingestion to curated, business-ready tables and the Delta Lake storage beneath them • Implement and extend the agency's Unity Catalog governance model, including catalogs, schemas, access controls, lineage, and required data classifications • Build data models using dimensional models for reporting and Data Vault where history and auditability matter • Connect the lakehouse to external sources through Lakehouse Federation and to analysts through Databricks SQL and Power BI • Document design decisions and reference patterns for owned components • Review implementation against documented design decisions and reference patterns • Make architecture tradeoffs explicit and leave reusable team patterns • Help develop the firm's capabilities, tools, and lines of business • Use AI tools to help implement, test, and improve owned components while reviewing and testing their output • Collaborate with developers, engineers, data scientists, architects, and strategists across assignments and clients

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of data architecture, data engineering, or analytics engineering experience, including design work on a production data platform • Bachelor's degree • Hands-on Azure Databricks work, including Delta Lake and the medallion architecture • Data governance in Unity Catalog, including access control, lineage, and data classification • Data modeling for analytics, including dimensional modeling; Data Vault is a plus • Advanced SQL and working Python, including PySpark • Serving data to analysts and reporting tools, for example through Databricks SQL and Power BI • Writing decision records, standards, and diagrams that engineers and reviewers follow • Delivery experience in a federal government environment, working to its security, access, and review processes • Proficiency in writing, PowerPoint, and Excel • United States citizenship; dual citizenship and green card holders are prohibited by the contract terms • Ability to satisfy the required suitability, security, and access requirements • Preferred: Experience on a federal system accredited at Impact Level 5 (IL-5) or higher • Preferred: Data architecture work in Microsoft Azure and at least one additional cloud platform, such as AWS or Google Cloud • Preferred: Lakehouse Federation, Databricks SQL warehouses, or Azure Data Factory • Preferred: Databricks certification, or a Microsoft Azure architecture or data certification • Preferred: Federal data governance experience, including records, privacy, and security controls • Preferred: Familiarity with AI-assisted developer tooling
