📋 Description

• Lead and oversee four engineering teams and two principal engineers in the Payroll domain • Serve as a technology-focused bridge between engineering teams and business strategy • Support team strategy through continuous collaboration with engineering teams and leadership • Guide teams through complex Payroll systems and concepts • Own the health, engineering quality, scalability, and improvement of multiple products • Modernize legacy applications through actionable plans with engineering teams • Coordinate cross-functional development priorities with organizational leaders • Communicate project timelines, architectures, engineering practices, quality, risks, and solutions • Establish communication and decision-making routines and frameworks • Manage delivery tradeoffs with Product partners, including technical debt and maintenance work • Mentor and develop engineering managers and individual contributors • Hire globally distributed talent and conduct managerial interviews • Hold 1:1s and skip-level meetings, provide performance feedback, and foster psychological safety • Guide technical decision-making and make final decisions when necessary • Lead operational incidents, root-cause analyses, and postmortems • Create growth opportunities, recognize achievements, and reward high performance • Hold managers and teams accountable for secure, reusable, scalable, and high-quality software • Build and maintain strong relationships with product counterparts

🎯 Requirements

• BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience • 8+ years of experience in software engineering • 4+ years in a management role overseeing multiple teams • Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as DataDog and PagerDuty • Experience leading and scaling high-performing engineering teams in a SaaS or enterprise software environment • Demonstrated strategy development with successful outcomes • Collaborative project planning accounting for risk/reward tradeoffs, assumptions, and confidence levels • Exceptional communication ability with a friendly, collaborative demeanor • History of direct and indirect data-driven influence • Basic understanding of enterprise financial planning and management tools • Familiarity with cloud technologies, preferably AWS • Understanding of architectural patterns including SOA and microservices and their tradeoffs • Extensive experience designing and developing large-scale .NET/SQL platforms with asynchronous processing • Experience with modern APIs in a React-based ecosystem • Passion for the role and ownership of team deliverables • Ability to work effectively in an agile team environment • Practical and creative problem-solving ability • Ability to work five days per week during designated work hours • Ability to sit for extended periods, typically 7–8 hours per day • Ability to operate computers, phone systems, type, and use multiple software programs simultaneously
