📋 Description

• Serve as technical subject matter expert for BESS engineering scopes • Lead and manage BESS design and engineering, ensuring compliance with contracts, utilities, and AHJ requirements • Review feasibility studies, site assessments, and system sizing analyses • Contribute across electrical, civil, structural, SCADA, and high-voltage engineering scopes • Manage Engineers of Record and third-party engineering partners • Coordinate with fire protection engineers and local fire departments/AHJs • Develop and review technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for procurement • Provide technical oversight during procurement, including vendor recommendations and drawing reviews • Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and contractors to design, procure, install, and commission BESS systems • Oversee system modeling, simulation, and analysis • Provide engineering support during construction, including field issue resolution, design clarifications, and minor redesigns • Support testing, validation, commissioning, energization, and initial synchronization • Mentor junior engineers and project teams • Stay current with industry trends, standards, and regulatory requirements • Support business development through proposals, presentations, and technical consultations • Represent SOLV Engineering in customer and client meetings • Participate in regular team meetings/calls • Travel as required to support project execution • Complete other responsibilities as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field • 5+ years of electrical engineering experience with focus on BESS, renewables, or power systems • Expertise in design, integration, and optimization of battery energy storage systems, including lithium-ion batteries, inverters, BMS, and grid interconnection equipment • Expert knowledge of BESS control strategies, algorithms, and optimization software • Proficiency in power system analysis (PSS/E, PSCAD, etc.) and simulation tools • Technical subject matter expertise in NEC, IEEE, IBC, ASCE, NESC, NFPA, and utility standards • Extensive experience with grid operations and regulatory requirements, including FERC Order 841 and IEEE 1547 • Strong understanding of fire protection requirements, including UL9540, UL9540A, and NFPA855 • Thorough knowledge of SCADA and Energy Management Systems communication protocols, including IEC 61850 • Project management experience including budgeting, scheduling, and risk management • Knowledge of EPC engineering workflows, design deliverables, submittals, document control, and engineering partner coordination • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, adapt to dynamic project requirements, and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines • Commitment to safety, quality, and sustainability • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future
