• Drive multi-year and annual maintenance and growth capital planning for assigned sites/manufacturing POD • Prioritize maintenance budgets with cross-functional teams including Food Safety & Quality, EHS, suppliers, FM Global, Roofing, PSM, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain leads • Ensure capital plans are achievable and projects avoid unplanned operational or service impacts • Oversee the health, compliance, and delivery of maintenance and growth projects across assigned plants/manufacturing POD • Ensure safe construction practices and compliant, effective equipment installation • Mentor site Engineering and Capital Project Managers on lean construction teaming, quality, safety, cost, and delivery techniques • Approve project change-control requests and contingency or supplemental funds • Prepare portfolio status reports for global and North American committees • Monitor and control construction work in progress with the Fixed Asset team • Lead capital projects from conceptual design through vertical startup with internal and external partners • Define project budgets, schedules, structures, resource needs, and required skills • Lead Capital Appropriations Requests submissions and advocate to capital investment committees • Ensure safety and environmental compliance for project personnel, contractors, and subcontractors • Develop and implement project risk-management strategies • Maintain communication with project teams, governance teams, business partners, and stakeholders • Provide routine progress reports throughout project lifecycles • Implement project and financial controls for change management, cost forecasting, productivity measurement, invoice review, and payment • Ensure commissioning and vertical startup align with handover strategy and operations forecasts • Work with PMO and Global/International teams on KHMS updates, audits, and health checks • Drive continuous improvement of capital project management activities and processes • Develop and share capital-management best practices and KPIs • Build and administer onboarding and training for Engineering and Capital Project Managers • Develop cost-saving opportunities with plant teams and convert prioritized ideas into projects • Manage, coach, and mentor direct and indirect reports • Partner with Engineering, Technical Services, and HR to develop team members and career plans • Lead organizational change management and engage cross-functional HR partners • Ensure projects use appropriate technical solutions while meeting cost targets • Support post-implementation reviews • Partner with Procurement on sourcing strategy, technical requirements, specifications, bidding, and bid evaluations
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school or related field is required • Experience in engineering, project management and/or technical leadership across multiple sites • Prior experience in an in-plant technical role is preferred • PMP certificate strongly preferred • Experience with strategic and annual capital planning • Strong background in process and packaging equipment for the food industry and/or plant facility engineering and maintenance • Knowledge of building construction and components, building utilities, mechanical and electrical systems, ammonia refrigeration systems, electrical controls systems, computer applications, facility support equipment, and water and wastewater systems • Demonstrated ability to direct/lead/manage cross-functional teams on large capital projects/programs of $20MM or more • Understanding of capital financial and manufacturing KPIs • Ability to work in a matrix environment • Proficient understanding of project management practices, including initiating, planning, execution, monitoring/controlling, and closeout • Working knowledge of pre-design and pre-construction, building systems/components and technology, contract management, project delivery methods, and team building • Hands-on experience negotiating and managing contracts and agreements with engineering contractors, vendors, regulatory and government agencies • Experience reading and understanding architectural, mechanical, electrical, process, plumbing, structural, and fire construction drawings and specifications • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills • Willingness to travel to locations outside the home state for extended periods, up to 50% • Ability to work remotely with little supervision • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, afternoons, nights, and overtime as needed • Ability to inspect sites for safety concerns, occasionally scale heights, traverse workplaces, and work in noisy environments
