📋 Description

• Define and drive Thrivent’s Wealth Management and Insurance Product technology strategy and execution • Lead and mentor a team of engineers • Collaborate with engineering teams on strategy, product operating mode adoption, operational excellence, DevOps/engineering maturity, and platform implementation • Review technical solution designs for architectural alignment and provide team guidance • Participate in system design and architecture discussions • Read code, stay current with best practices, and ensure code reviews are completed • Promote learning, idea sharing, best practices, and continuous improvement • Analyze technology trends and assess the business impact of emerging technologies • Support agile practices, learning events, and training • Partner with Product Managers on initiatives, epics, and features to clarify outcomes and provide technical expertise • Collaborate on product strategies, operating plans, targets, and measures • Align the team with company and technology organization priorities • Set product and platform technology vision, strategies, initiatives, roadmaps, objectives, and alignments • Represent the business value of technology upgrades and influence product roadmap prioritization • Guide tool and platform selection and build-versus-buy decisions • Promote engineering best practices, DevOps practices, and automation • Contribute to enterprise frameworks and patterns • Define and support software development lifecycle processes • Remove barriers to resolving production incidents and problems • Ensure observability, monitoring, and alerting practices • Serve as an escalation point for product-level support, maintenance, and production issues • Manage technology solutions, platforms, and vendor relationships • Conduct regular one-on-ones and team meetings • Provide feedback, coaching, career planning, and development plans for engineers • Lead consulting partner selection and engagement • Plan for future staffing needs and collaborate on recruitment • Recruit, develop, and sustain a high-performing team • Manage direct employees and consultants

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other technical field or equivalent work experience • 8+ years of progressively responsible positions in Information Technology, including 5+ years’ experience in software development, portfolio strategy and roadmap development • 3+ years’ management/supervisory experience in a specific IT functional area discipline, or equivalent skills leading major technical projects with accountability for enforcing talent management needs and performance standards • Demonstrated experience and leadership introducing and growing a Product Operating Model (Agile/Scrum) • Demonstrated leadership and experience managing multidiscipline, high-performance work teams • Strong competency in project management and execution of multiple or large projects • Experience working with customers to develop solutions to complex business problems • Proven ability to communicate effectively with internal/external stakeholders to support business initiatives • Proven ability to function in an environment requiring flexibility, good judgment and intelligent decision making, often based on limited information and/or extreme conditions • Ability to formulate, implement and evaluate plans, programs and procedures applicable to customer relationship and demand management • Direct experience in Life, Health and Annuity insurance products, delivering technology for Financial Advisors (preferred) • Series 99 license or above (preferred)
