📋 Description

• Lead a team of software engineers designing, building, and delivering operational claims systems supporting Allstate Dealer Services • Provide technical and people leadership to multiple Agile teams developing, implementing, and supporting backend services and applications • Partner with product management, architecture, engineering leaders, and business stakeholders to establish technical direction and deliver business outcomes • Build and develop engineering talent through mentoring, coaching, performance feedback, career development, and growth opportunities • Lead product discovery, portfolio planning, strategic planning, inception, iteration planning, backlog refinement, prioritization, and retrospectives • Establish and evolve product and platform architecture, design, and technical roadmaps • Provide leadership and oversight across Agile delivery teams, resolving technical challenges and removing delivery impediments • Promote automated testing, code quality standards, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and DevOps principles • Drive secure, reliable, scalable production operations and operational excellence • Collaborate across product, engineering, architecture, security, and business functions to align technology investments with strategic objectives • Support workforce planning, hiring, onboarding, succession planning, performance management, and talent management • Establish and monitor engineering metrics covering delivery, quality, reliability, and team health • Advise business and technology stakeholders on software engineering, cloud platforms, distributed systems, and organizational effectiveness

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including experience leading engineering teams delivering enterprise-scale applications and services • Experience managing software engineers within Agile development environments • Strong understanding of modern software architecture, microservices, distributed systems, APIs, cloud-native applications, and DevOps practices • Experience delivering solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and related enterprise technologies • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and engineering delivery processes • Experience supporting applications in production environments with a focus on reliability, observability, and operational excellence • Strong leadership, communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills • Experience leading technical planning, estimation, prioritization, and execution activities • Proven ability to attract, develop, coach, and retain engineering talent • Experience working closely with Product Management and business stakeholders to deliver customer-focused solutions • Preferred experience leading teams developing enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices architectures • Preferred experience managing engineers responsible for distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and high-volume transactional applications • Preferred experience with modern cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Kubernetes-based environments • Preferred understanding of object-oriented design, domain-driven design, API-first development, and secure coding principles • Preferred experience establishing and managing CI/CD pipelines, automated testing strategies, infrastructure automation, and DevOps practices • Preferred experience with messaging and event streaming technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, or similar platforms • Preferred experience with relational databases, NoSQL databases, and data integration patterns • Preferred experience leading application modernization efforts, including monolith-to-microservice transformations and cloud migration initiatives • Preferred understanding of application observability, monitoring, logging, performance tuning, reliability engineering, and production support practices • Preferred experience within claims, insurance, warranty services, financial services, or other highly regulated industries • Background investigation required • Dedicated, private workspace free from distractions when working from home • Reliable internet with minimum speeds of 50 MB download and 5 MB upload
