📋 Description

• Lead multiple software engineers responsible for maintenance, modernization, and ongoing evolution of mission-critical administrative systems supporting Allstate Dealer Services • Provide leadership across software delivery, technology strategy, application operations, and talent development • Partner with Product Managers, Architects, Engineering Leaders, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions and maintain operational excellence • Mentor, coach, and develop software engineering teams through performance feedback, career guidance, and growth opportunities • Participate in product discovery, portfolio planning, strategic planning, retrospectives, inception, iteration planning, backlog refinement, and prioritization • Establish and evolve architecture, design, and technical roadmaps with architects and technical leaders • Provide oversight across Agile delivery teams and resolve complex technical challenges and delivery impediments • Champion automated testing, code quality standards, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and DevOps practices • Drive secure, reliable, scalable, and effectively supported production applications • Align technology investments with strategic business objectives across product, engineering, architecture, security, and business teams • Lead cross-functional and cross-product collaboration for consistency, reusability, and portfolio alignment • Support workforce planning, hiring, onboarding, and talent management • Establish and monitor engineering metrics related to delivery, quality, reliability, and team health • Advise stakeholders on software engineering practices, cloud platforms, distributed systems, and organizational effectiveness • Manage, coach, develop, and evaluate software engineering talent; oversee hiring, performance management, and succession planning

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including experience leading engineering teams delivering enterprise-scale applications and services • Experience managing software engineers within Agile development environments • Strong understanding of modern software architecture, microservices, distributed systems, APIs, cloud-native applications, and DevOps practices • Experience delivering solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and related enterprise technologies • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and engineering delivery processes • Experience supporting applications in production environments with a focus on reliability, observability, and operational excellence • Strong leadership, communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills • Experience leading technical planning, estimation, prioritization, and execution activities • Proven ability to attract, develop, coach, and retain engineering talent • Experience working closely with Product Management and business stakeholders to deliver customer-focused solutions • Preferred: Experience leading teams developing applications using C#, .NET, .NET Core, and modern API architectures • Preferred: Experience managing production support and application operations for business-critical systems • Preferred: Experience leading modernization efforts involving cloud platforms, microservices, containers, Kubernetes, and DevOps practices • Preferred: Experience building and leading Agile software engineering teams • Preferred: Strong understanding of CI/CD, observability, application security, and enterprise software development best practices • Preferred: Demonstrated success managing engineers while driving both delivery execution and organizational transformation • Preferred: Experience partnering with business stakeholders in highly operational or transaction-driven environments • Must submit to a background investigation • Allstate generally does not sponsor individuals for employment-based visas for this position • Dedicated, private workspace free from distractions when working from home • Reliable internet with minimum speeds of 50 MB download and 5 MB upload
