📋 Description

• Design and implement Go and TypeScript services, GraphQL APIs, and Kafka-based event pipelines • Help enterprise clients adopt event streaming from initial topic design through production scale • Plan and execute large-scale modernization efforts, moving services and data between platforms and clouds • Perform migrations with safety, observability, and minimal disruption • Work with platform engineers to run services on AWS and Kubernetes • Own reliability, observability, and repeatability as part of delivered systems • Consult with clients to build outcome-driven applications and platforms • Guide clients through processes, identify potential problems and unknowns, and tackle challenges • Travel an average of 3 to 5 days every quarter • Present at conferences, attend and give training, plan and run meetups or local groups, and create content • Discuss and design architectures, review code, and research new technologies • Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to shared help and developer-tooling practices

🎯 Requirements

• Candidates must be located in and authorized to work in the United States • Strong working knowledge of Go, including concurrency patterns • Practical experience with TypeScript/Node on the server • Experience designing and building GraphQL APIs, including schema design, resolvers, N+1, dataloaders, caching, pagination, and performance concerns • Experience designing and operating Kafka-based event streaming systems, including topic and partition design, consumer groups, schema management, ordering, delivery guarantees, and consumer lag • Database schema design and development expertise, including query performance and safely evolving schemas • Hands-on AWS experience architecting, deploying, and operating production systems, including networking, IAM, messaging, and data services • Understanding of scaling issues, concurrency, backpressure, caching strategies, and failure modes across distributed systems • Experience planning and executing application replatforming, data and schema migrations, or workload migrations with minimal downtime • Thorough understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern delivery practices • Experience with observability, including logging, metrics, and tracing; OpenTelemetry is a plus • Experience building modern microservice-based or serverless applications • Working comfort with Kubernetes, including deploying and debugging services in a cluster • Experience operating Kafka in production, including MSK, Confluent, or self-managed Kafka • Knowledge of Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, and schema registry workflows using Avro or Protobuf • Experience migrating between Kafka clusters or providers and integrating Kafka with downstream analytical stores such as ClickHouse • Experience with Lambda and Kappa architectures or other techniques for processing large datasets • API design across GraphQL, REST, and gRPC • Knowledge of AuthN/AuthZ technologies, including sessions, API tokens, and JWTs • Automated testing across unit, integration, and performance/benchmarking levels • Familiarity with AWS SQS/SNS or RabbitMQ • Infrastructure as code using Terraform/OpenTofu • GitOps-style delivery with ArgoCD or Flux • Helm chart authoring, secrets management, and autoscaling concepts • Experience with a durable execution or workflow engine such as Temporal, Airflow, or Prefect, including retries, timeouts, and idempotency • Ability to travel an average of 3 to 5 days every quarter • Ability to pass a background check • No visa sponsorship is provided
