📋 Description

• Own complex, loosely defined projects from initial design through production • Lead projects spanning multiple engineering teams • Build backend services, APIs, and data models for internal grading and authentication applications • Work across containerized .NET applications, serverless APIs, and Python background-processing jobs • Design and implement reliable event-driven and asynchronous systems for high-volume operational data • Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and problem-solving practices • Contribute to frontend development with JavaScript, TypeScript, and Vue.js • Collaborate with Product, Technology, and Operations teams to translate business requirements into technical designs • Troubleshoot data, integration, service, and UI issues across a large codebase • Participate in an on-call rotation for owned services • Write design documents and technical decision records • Help raise the team’s design and engineering standards

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience building production applications • 5+ years of experience and strong proficiency in C# and .NET • Deep backend systems experience and hands-on frontend delivery experience • Routine use of AI tooling in software design and development, with judgment to review and take responsibility for its output • Track record delivering projects with initially unclear requirements and non-obvious designs • Experience mentoring engineers and improving team design and development practices • Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and service integrations • Sound judgment regarding code placement, module boundaries, and service decomposition • Experience writing and maintaining automated tests for production services • Strong fundamentals with relational databases and data modeling, such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL • Hands-on experience building and operating cloud production services, including Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, serverless compute behind an API gateway, and managed messaging and data stores • Frontend experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and a component-based framework • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform or CloudFormation, and monitoring/observability tools such as CloudWatch or Datadog • Ability to write clear design documents and technical decision records • Experience translating complex Product and Operations requirements into extensible systems • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies • Nice to have: asynchronous, event-driven, and distributed systems experience, including multi-region systems • Nice to have: AWS, Python, pytest or unittest, Apache Kafka, DynamoDB, or Vue.js experience • Nice to have: close Product partnership and direct collaboration with operations and business teams • Nice to have: experience optimizing high-volume workflows • Must be able to work legally in the United States; Collectors uses e-Verify
