📋 Description

• Design, develop, maintain, and support mission-critical cloud platform components enabling Ford's connected vehicle capabilities • Own end-to-end delivery of software services and supporting platform infrastructure • Act as domain owner for critical services, identify and mitigate risks, lead root-cause analysis, and improve reliability, observability, and performance • Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance for complex distributed systems • Design, develop, evolve, and operate large-scale distributed microservices and cloud-native platforms using Java, Spring Boot, Kubernetes/EKS, Kafka, PostgreSQL, gRPC, REST, and AWS • Lead performance benchmarking, capacity planning, and load testing • Own operational readiness and service health, including monitoring, tracing, logging, metrics, alerting, incident response, and SLA adherence • Drive platform modernization and architectural improvements • Evaluate security, compliance, cost, downstream consumer, and partner implications across Ford's connected vehicle ecosystem • Mentor engineers and raise team technical maturity • Collaborate with product managers and cross-functional teams using Agile methodologies • Lead design reviews, define best practices, and influence technical direction • Align technical decisions with customer experience, business outcomes, and platform sustainability

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical work experience • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, and operating production-grade distributed microservices • 8+ years of experience with Java and Spring Boot development • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Kafka and real-time data streaming architectures • 5+ years of hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, primarily AWS with openness/exposure to GCP • 3+ years of experience with API design and development (REST, gRPC, JSON, OpenAPI/Swagger) • 3+ years of experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and CI/CD pipelines (ArgoCD, Concourse, GitHub) • 3+ years of operational experience with monitoring, telemetry, and incident response tools (Grafana, Dynatrace, DataDog, OpenTelemetry, VictoriaMetrics, Prometheus, PagerDuty), including primary/secondary on-call rotations • Visa sponsorship is not available • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States • Experience with GCP or AWS-to-GCP cloud migrations, API Gateways (Tyk), telemetry and metrics platforms, and automotive/connected vehicle/telematics/high-criticality IoT streaming is preferred • Candidate location in Pacific Time Zone or Texas/Central region is preferred
