📋 Description

• Lead and grow a globally distributed team of 12 QA engineers across manual and automated testing • Partner with the outsourcing partner to staff pods, set the quality bar for partner engineers, and build a blended team • Build and execute a hiring strategy aligned with team and company goals • Establish team performance processes, standards, and documentation • Mentor team members through one-on-ones, feedback, coaching, and performance management • Own the go/no-go decision on release readiness and accountability for it • Identify and surface quality risks early in the release cycle • Negotiate release trade-offs with product and engineering stakeholders • Reduce post-release defects and hotfix rates; monitor production quality and lead incident response • Provide C-level visibility into quality coverage and execute plans for effective test coverage • Establish quality KPIs with leadership and drive progress toward goals • Champion and implement shift-left quality practices • Establish QA best practices and communicate them to engineering partners • Improve QA processes, tools, and automation opportunities • Document testing standards and maintain test case libraries • Report directly to the CTO and own the QA function end to end

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years of total experience within QA • 3+ years of QA management experience, including management of globally distributed teams • Excellent people management skills, including developing team members, managing performance, and building a high-performing culture • Solution-oriented leadership for quality incidents, with focus on root causes and scalable solutions • Strong communication skills to articulate quality status, risks, and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders • Mobile QA subject matter expertise across manual and automated QA, regression testing, test coverage, and device/OS matrix strategy • Demonstrated ownership of release readiness decisions, including reducing post-release defects or hotfix frequency • AI-native QA practice, using AI daily and having shipped production QA processes that depend on it • Experience designing and implementing new QA approaches in an organization, such as shift-left • Consumer subscription mobile app experience at scale (nice to have)
