• Report directly to the Director of Quality Assurance & Quality Management Systems • Integrate Quality with Supply Chain, Marketing, Sales, and R&D • Incorporate food safety and product quality into products from concept through commercialization and in-market performance • Investigate customer and consumer complaints and product conformance issues • Support technical development and leadership of Quality Programs • Build capabilities of the Product Quality and Field Quality team • Lead, coach, and develop the Product Quality and Field Quality team • Deploy Field Quality resources, focusing on supplier facility reviews • Manage food safety and quality risks, gaps, and opportunities for products, processes, and systems • Ensure OUAF and Contract Manufacturer Quality Policies are adhered to and monitored • Manage and deploy Quality Assurance programs across co-manufacturing partners and functional areas • Influence Operations leadership with quality best practices • Partner with R&D, Sales, Marketing, Logistics, and co-manufacturing operations • Oversee and improve quality aspects of product launches and commercialization • Guide product trials by establishing process baselines, quality attribute ranges/targets, and process compliance • Lead investigations of in-plant, distribution, customer, and consumer quality incidents; identify root causes and facilitate corrective actions • Manage onboarding of new co-manufacturing partners, products, equipment, and packaging start-ups and commissioning • Implement the OUAF Quality Management System, including supplier approval, audit requirements, product development, FSMA compliance, HARPC plans, and Cost of Quality • Conduct food safety and quality risk assessments and oversee sampling programs and data review • Develop and refine product specifications and ensure execution • Define, track, and report Quality KPIs • Direct resources toward continuous improvement initiatives • Travel to co-manufacturing partner locations and attend company or department meetings a few times per year
• Minimum education required: BS Food Science Degree or related Science degree education desired • 7+ years in the food industry; CPG experience preferred • Prior leadership, managerial, or supervisory experience • PCQI and/or HACCP certified • Plant production experience and strong knowledge of product processing • Expert abilities and decision-making for Food Safety, Regulatory, and Quality challenges • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with urgency through prioritization and program management skills • Ability to drive organizational alignment on Quality objectives with an enterprise-wide mindset • Record of leadership and success in collaborative development, documentation, planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality systems • Knowledge of Quality Standards, Systems, and Quality Policies, with ability to execute against requirements • Ability to influence Innovation and Commercialization development steps to achieve consumer safety and quality objectives • Strong knowledge and general business acumen to support and influence Marketing and R&D • Ability to engage business functions in developing and standardizing Quality manuals, policies, procedures, data templates, audit standards, procedures, and Quality KPIs • Ability to manage, coach, and develop people, talent, and skills • Strong business partnering and relationship management skills • Previous cross-functional sustainability and operations exposure preferred • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control programs, Design of Experiments, and Process capability studies • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Outlook, Slack, and other professional platforms • Up to 40% travel required • Must reside in the United States • Visa sponsorship is not available
