📋 Description

• Provide global mechanical engineering direction for Equinix design through continued development of Reference Designs • Evaluate new products and engineering approaches and support the Innovation incubation process • Support Regional Design teams with project implementation of Reference Design • Provide subject matter expert direction to the Major Capital Equipment team on portfolio-wide procurement of mechanical equipment • Engage with key customers to understand evolving design requirements and direct Reference Design configurations • Lead design processes with Architectural, MEP, and other design partners for datacenter portfolios • Develop globally standardized tools, techniques, and processes for design management and reporting • Drive consistency and technical excellence across regional design and delivery practices • Conduct master planning, generate project visualizations, initial models, and cost estimates • Coordinate regional infrastructure, equipment procurement, commercial management, and customer-specific configurations • Maintain relationships with internal technical staff, external consultants, construction management, commercial management, and regional P&L holders • Partner with Global Operations, Global Design Standards, Procurement, xScale, and Global Account Management teams • Indirectly manage engineering staff in Independent Technical Review • Manage design schedules, budgets, change management, and design costs • Deliver and review BODs, REIC submissions, and IFP/IFC design documentation • Manage Reference Design external consultant teams and customer technical requirements • Ensure designs meet Global Design Standards and business needs for capacity, density, and function • Own the Mechanical discipline of the Reference Design and its equipment technical submittal repository • Use design reviews, best practices, project feedback, and vendor feedback to improve Reference Designs and standards

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years’ experience in a Design MEP Firm or in the design team of a Mission Critical Building operator or Subcontractor, or 7+ years’ experience as an Architectural lead in a Mission Critical Architectural Design Practice • Pan-global experience of local mechanical design/construction practice is highly desirable • Experience and electrical code/regulation/law familiarity in AMER, EMEA and APAC regions is ideal • Advanced Degree (Masters) in Mechanical Engineering is preferred; Bachelor's Degree acceptable or extensive and demonstrable experience in role • PE, CEng or local equivalent for Engineering route candidates is desirable but not essential • Spoken and written English proficiency is essential • Additional languages are strongly desirable • Experience of design requirements of major customers is highly desirable
