📋 Description

• Design, build, and maintain Ruby on Rails services and APIs alongside modern JavaScript/React frontends • Own the quality, performance, and reliability of services and frontends • Lead the end-to-end design and delivery of complex, well-scoped features and systems • Write clear, maintainable, well-tested code • Simplify services, improve patterns, and reduce technical debt • Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, feedback, and knowledge sharing • Evolve the platform to support new services and capabilities across adjacent codebases and domains • Partner with external vendors and Product and Customer Success stakeholders to turn requirements into technical solutions • Use AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, and debugging • Follow and promote secure, scalable, cloud-native web application development practices • Contribute to an API-driven platform used globally to issue and verify digital credentials • Contribute to architectural decisions and raise the technical bar for the engineering team

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software development experience • Proficiency with Ruby on Rails, React, AWS, and PostgreSQL • Proven track record of making high-impact technical decisions in complex production environments • Experience shipping well-tested code and giving constructive code reviews • Excellent cross-functional communication with engineers and non-technical stakeholders • Experience in software architecture, system design, and scalability • Strong hands-on engineering background • Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers • Experience with distributed or service-oriented systems • Experience with asynchronous, event-driven communication between services • Comfort working across more than one codebase and ramping quickly into unfamiliar systems • Comfort using AI tools for coding, testing, documentation, and learning, with sound judgment when validating AI-generated output • Nice to have: production workloads on AWS and Azure • Nice to have: CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment practices • Nice to have: third-party or vendor-delivered service integrations • Nice to have: web application security best practices • Nice to have: design systems, component libraries, or advanced frontend tooling • Nice to have: scalability, resilience, or performance work at scale • Nice to have: Apache Pulsar or Apache Kafka experience
