📋 Description

• Own performance tuning on the StarRocks serving layer using AI-assisted query profiling to identify and fix slow query patterns • Build and harden data pipelines supporting government cloud investigations • Become a second engineer able to independently operate and troubleshoot the serving layer • Reduce single-point-of-failure risk and incident response time for GovCloud data infrastructure • Use AI-assisted debugging and log analysis to triage production issues and deliver root-cause fixes • Review incidents, infrastructure work, and compliance milestones in weekly team syncs • Provide async daily updates on pipeline health, tickets, and blockers • Participate in sprint planning and own assigned workstreams • Conduct retrospectives after production incidents and update runbooks • Collaborate with Forward Deployed Engineering and Product teams to maintain parity between government cloud and commercial platforms

🎯 Requirements

• U.S. citizenship required due to government cloud data access requirements • Hands-on experience operating distributed OLAP or serving-layer systems such as StarRocks, Trino, ClickHouse, or similar • Experience with query tuning and performance optimization at scale • Experience owning data pipeline reliability and incident response • Comfort using AI tools such as Claude, Cursor, or similar for debugging, code review, and documentation • Ability to independently take ownership of unfamiliar production infrastructure • Ability to use AI-assisted research and code exploration to ramp quickly • Willingness and ability to take on-call responsibility with minimal oversight • Applied AI fluency; candidates are evaluated on AI fluency during the interview process
