📋 Description

• Contribute directly to the codebase by writing production code, reviewing PRs, and handling critical, complex, or ambiguous work • Architect and implement scalable solutions and drive strong engineering practices • Pair with, mentor, coach, and unblock engineers while supporting their professional development • Lead end-to-end delivery while balancing speed, technical quality, and scalable design • Align engineering execution with company goals and customer needs; shape technical and product strategy • Implement systems, tools, and processes that improve development velocity, quality, and collaboration • Partner cross-functionally with product, design, marketing, sales, and support • Support pre-sales and customer onboarding, including integration details and field feedback • Coordinate external integrations and platform partnerships • Define and own engineering metrics and KPIs • Collaborate with Legal and Security to uphold compliance, privacy, and regulatory standards • Adopt and scale the Vanilla AI SDLC across the team and organization

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of professional engineering experience, including recent, current hands-on coding • 3+ years leading engineers as a hands-on technical lead or player/coach engineering manager • Demonstrated ability to operate as a player/coach, splitting time between shipping code and leading people • Track record of building and scaling complex software systems at high-growth SaaS companies or startups • Deep, current technical skills in coding, architecture, and debugging • Strong operational, process-oriented, and data-driven approach • Experience influencing product architecture and engineering strategy through systems thinking • Ability to navigate ambiguity and work autonomously in a fast-paced environment • Strong communication and leadership skills for guiding technical discussions and aligning stakeholders • Prior pre-sales engineering experience highly valued • Project management experience is a strong plus • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience • Must be based in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, or Washington • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
