Description

• Lead the OfferUp Communications Team responsible for Chat and Notifications • Lead a high-functioning team of backend/frontend engineers • Foster an engineering culture focused on learning and rapid validation • Support the career growth and development of engineers • Manage technical systems, design features, and work with various departments • Succeed in a fast-paced, ownership-driven environment • Guide team by providing perspective, prioritization, and encouraging sharp focus • Incubate new ideas and create engineering roadmap • Collaborate with business partners and product managers for technical solutions • Recruit new engineers to grow teams

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience managing a team of 5+ software engineers • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, at least two were focused on full-stack development • Deep understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms • Professional experience working with large-scale distributed systems • Professional experience with database systems, both relational and NoSQL databases • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer/Software Engineering, Information Systems/Technology, Information Science, or a related discipline • Must be eligible to work in the United States • Helpful, but not required: ◦ Experience with cloud infrastructure AWS ◦ Expertise with messaging apps or features ◦ Experience with data ◦ Experience writing code in Java, Javascript, and Typescript
