Description

• Lead the OfferUp Communications Team responsible for Chat and Notifications • Manage a team of backend/frontend engineers • Cultivate an engineering culture focused on learning and rapid validation of ideas • Support career growth and development of engineers • Collaborate with various departments such as Product, BizOps, Marketing, Data Science, and CS • Create the engineering roadmap for the team • Recruit new engineers • Distill complex business problems into technical solutions • Establish and guide the team vision, priorities, and focus • Work in a fast-paced, ownership-driven environment

Requirements

• 4+ years of team management experience • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience • 2+ years focused on full-stack development • Deep understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms • Experience with large-scale distributed systems and database systems • Strong product mindset • Experience delivering large complex projects in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders • Familiarity with running A/B tests and data analysis • BS or MS in relevant field • Eligibility to work in the United States • Helpful: experience with AWS, messaging apps or features, data, Java, Javascript, Typescript
