📋 Description

• Deepen understanding of the healthcare claims and payments domain • Build production-grade backend services and contribute to programming standards and team maturity • Mentor and coach other developers • Serve as the backend voice in cross-team planning and cross-functional execution • Contribute to new product development of complex in-browser applications • Ensure applications are extensible, scalable, and secure • Balance customer-facing features with technical-debt cleanup • Architect and implement applications applying ML techniques to large volumes of data • Design systems that work together to deliver performant, reliable applications • Introduce agentic engineering practices and help the team adopt them • Set technical direction for backend development • Design and build scalable, reliable web application systems alongside AI coding agents • Direct and review AI-generated code while maintaining engineering quality • Partner cross-functionally, influence product direction, and work directly with customers

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of experience spread across backend programming; additional full-stack experience highly desired • Proven experience designing and shipping customer-facing web application products • Meaningful experience with Java or Scala; Rust highly desired • Experience designing, building, and operating distributed systems on cloud services at scale • Ability to write Technical Design Documents that translate ambiguous product intent into concrete backend design • Product- and user-driven mindset • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills • Hands-on experience with agentic engineering tools and workflows in a real production setting • Experience reading and understanding complex code, owning code quality, and improving it • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills • Comfort with complexity and curiosity to define the path forward • BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent experience • Rust best-practices leadership is nice to have • Work authorization/location requirement: work from anywhere in the US
