📋 Description

• Lead a DevOps team within the Data Science Production Engineering department • Develop, test, deploy, maintain, and update data platforms, cloud platforms, automation systems, and analytics systems • Manage timely and efficient delivery of robust software products and systems • Train and coach team members on technologies, procedures, guidelines, and best practices • Maintain operational visibility into team workload and productivity • Translate business needs and project requirements into technical specifications and implementation plans • Create system architecture and infrastructure design documents with DSPE leadership • Maintain and optimize infrastructure performance, including network I/O, disk I/O, memory allocation, and compute utilization • Contribute to development, testing, deployment, validation, maintenance, and update activities • Improve and enforce work-efficiency, quality, and compliance procedures • Lead creation and maintenance of technical documentation, including design specifications, V&V protocols and reports, deployment records, maintenance records, and user guides • Create training materials and contribute to training activities • Engage engineering and operational stakeholders to align infrastructure roadmaps, resolve dependencies, and report platform performance metrics • Represent the DSPE DevOps team in stakeholder meetings • Build software and automation solutions for large-scale data and genomics applications supporting laboratory operations and genetic counselor/lab director teams

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related field required; advanced degrees preferred • 10 years of relevant industry experience with a bachelor's degree, 8 years with a master's degree, or 4 years with a doctorate degree • 3 years of experience in a highly regulated environment, such as CLIA and/or FDA-compliant settings • 3 years of management experience leading a DevOps or software development team • Experience designing, delivering, and maintaining custom-developed software tools or systems for production environments, preferably high-throughput settings • Experience creating software design specifications, verification and validation documents, and user manuals • Excellent Python programming skills • Substantial cloud application and/or automation system development experience • Proficiency with RDBMS systems such as PostgreSQL and/or MySQL • Experience with production database-based application development • Knowledge of optimizing system architecture and components for performance, scalability, and reliability • Proficiency in system/tool performance evaluation, including RAM, disk I/O, and network I/O • Proficiency with AWS and production software development using AWS services • Proficiency in SDLC and software development/testing methodologies • Proficient Linux command-line skills and Linux application development experience • Experience and working knowledge of genomics and bioinformatics technologies • Experience with genomics data such as FASTQ, BAM, and VCF files • Proficiency in Git workflow and version control systems such as GitHub and/or GitLab • Experience developing automation solutions • Good documentation practices and coding style • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Strong interpersonal skills, integrity, and teamwork • IaC skills with CloudFormation, Terraform, and/or Ansible preferred but not required
