📋 Description

• Perform detailed workflow analysis to develop system-to-system interface specifications and legacy data conversion specifications • Identify hardware and software resources required for interfaces and Epic database data conversion • Review specifications, prioritize interfaces, and train customers and hospital staff on new or modified systems • Author and maintain interface design guides and train interface developers • Perform code reviews and translate interface specifications into working interface data flows • Use Epic Bridges and Rhapsody Interface Engine for data mapping and complex filtering logic • Write interface validation plans and oversee testing and validation efforts • Monitor UNIX and Windows systems, understand Epic CACHE database structures, and develop file off-load and reporting routines • Coordinate TCP/IP communication configuration and maintain system documentation • Design and implement interfaces between EPIC, state and federal systems, and OHSU ancillary information systems • Develop project plans, track tasks and milestones, conduct progress meetings, and report project status to management • Diagnose system problems, develop corrective plans, and troubleshoot interface-related issues using Bridges and Rhapsody • Coordinate application fixes, upgrades, installations, data conversions, and validation plans across production and test environments • Monitor ADT, order entry, results reporting, and billing interfaces • Provide technical support to ITG and clinical department staff and train operations and help desk staff • Participate in a 24x7 support and on-call rotation for the Epic electronic medical record and related systems • Read and understand C++ and JavaScript programming languages • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and eight years' work-related experience; OR associate’s degree and nine years' work-related experience; OR ten years' work-related experience; OR equivalent combination of education and experience • Two or more years of paid work experience as an Application Engineer • Experience with Epic data structures and Epic Clarity Application • Intermediate to Expert level programming experience with JavaScript and SQL • Experience with Orion Rhapsody Interface Engine or an equivalent interface engine • Experience with UNIX systems and Rhapsody server file organization • Experience in terminal emulation software, file transfer, and data conversions • Experience with Cognos Framework Manager, Query Studio, and Report Studio • Ability to develop interfaces using the HL7 standard • Working knowledge of distributed healthcare computer applications such as mainframes, HIS, LIS, RIS, pharmacy systems, registration, and scheduling • Ability to pursue problem resolution independently and satisfy customer needs • Ability to perform critical quality analysis and testing of software applications, including beta testing • Ability to manage multiple complex tasks and meet deadlines • Ability to assess and diagnose system problems with users • Ability to work in a PC environment using Microsoft Office • Working knowledge of hospital and/or clinic operations and patient care processes • Preferred: healthcare HL7 interface training/certification • Preferred: experience and working knowledge of healthcare system software, HL7, TCP/IP, and technical application support • Preferred: two years' experience in Healthcare Information Systems • Preferred: healthcare systems analysis and design experience • Preferred: database experience with Oracle, MS SQL, MS Access, Unify, or similar • Preferred: experience developing interface specifications and writing validation plans • Preferred: understanding of patient registration, patient accounts, and coverages • Preferred: project coordination and management knowledge • Preferred: Epic Bridges, EpicCare Ambulatory, Epic Scheduling, Epic Billing, and Epic Registration knowledge • Preferred: interface process or engine application experience such as HL7, OpenLink, Cloverleaf, or eGate • Preferred: computer language knowledge such as Visual Basic • Preferred: Epic Bridges Certification
