The platform captures a rich array of the brain's activity in real time and utilizes machine learning to analyze EEG data for treatment efficacy, dose selection, and population stratification. Beacon Biosignals partners with biopharma companies, academic medical centers, and neurotechnology developers to improve the diagnosis and treatment of neurological and psychiatric diseases.

📋 Description

• Partner with product managers, scientific and clinical stakeholders, internal stakeholders, and development and support teams to translate requirements into integrations, services, and solutions for scaling Beacon's data platform • Implement features with attention to data integrity, design soundness, and maintainability • Draft RFCs to lead complex feature discovery and technical design phases • Ensure correctness when data moves between systems, including completeness, idempotency, and predictable behavior under partial failure • Improve operational robustness and ease of use of the Datastore and its services through documentation, tools, and dashboards • Design and scale backend data infrastructure involving PostgreSQL data models, Kafka-driven event pipelines, and a GraphQL API • Lead the design and integration of new services and components for data and event processing • Own pipelines delivering dataset snapshots into the warehouse • Collaborate with platform and application teams to implement APIs supporting clinical studies and digital health products

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of backend development experience • At least 2 years focused on data platforms and backend infrastructure for data-centric applications • Strong proficiency in SQL • Production experience with PostgreSQL as an application database • Ability to write and tune queries by hand and reason about schema design, indexes, and query plans • Hands-on experience with data streaming and event processing using Kafka or an equivalent such as RabbitMQ, Pulsar, Amazon Kinesis • Proficiency in Julia or Python • Experience deploying and operating services in containerized environments • Familiarity with Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and/or Helm • Experience with GraphQL and TypeScript/JavaScript (Node.js) • Collaborative mindset • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in asynchronous and remote-friendly environments • Self-directed approach and a track record of thriving in hybrid or fully remote teams
