📋 Description

• Contribute to technical design decisions for IPC services, balancing delivery speed with long-term maintainability • Design, build, and operate backend services using Python, PostgreSQL, Go, and a Java-based Drools rules engine • Partner with other Bestow engineering teams on platform integration work • Build platform capabilities supporting carrier onboardings, product launches, and configuration flexibility • Mentor engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and pairing • Maintain and improve production SLOs • Strengthen observability and share on-call responsibility for IPC workloads • Use agentic AI coding tools as a core part of the workflow and help develop AI-assisted practices • Communicate technical decisions, trade-offs, and status clearly in writing within a remote-first, async-heavy team

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years professional backend software development experience, at Senior level • Strong proficiency in Go and Python; Java experience is a plus • Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and API design • Experience with Protocol Buffers and OpenAPI • Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases at scale • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and GCP or equivalent cloud infrastructure • Track record building, deploying, and troubleshooting production services end-to-end • Ability to proactively identify risks, propose solutions, and drive work to completion • Ability to write maintainable, well-tested software and uphold high quality standards • Demonstrated daily experience with agentic AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot • Must reside in the contiguous 48 states of the United States • Must be able to work full-time in the United States; visa sponsorship requirements must be disclosed
