📋 Description

• Create challenging computational problems for benchmarking advanced AI systems on scientific and engineering tasks • Design original graduate-level problems based on real scientific workflows • Create problems involving simulations, result interpretation, experiment design, and extracting hidden information from data • Use specialized statistical, mathematical, or scientific software packages to develop reproducible numerical and strategic problems • Test each problem against state-of-the-art AI models • Refine problems through testing and feedback until they reach the target difficulty • Write problem setups, oracle functions, and solution validators in Python • Design problems where careful reasoning is more important than raw computation

🎯 Requirements

• Graduate-level expertise/training in statistics, applied mathematics, a relevant STEM field, or equivalent research experience • MS or PhD required; PhD preferred, or MS with 10+ years of relevant experience • Proven proficiency with at least one specialized statistical, mathematical, or scientific software package • Experience demonstrated through research publications, open-source contributions, or professional work • Strong Python skills • Ability to work independently and refine problem designs based on feedback • Comfortable working in a Linux/terminal environment with remote compute sandboxes • Available for at least 15–20 hours per week • Independent contractor status • H1-B or STEM OPT candidates are not supported • Nice to have: experience across multiple computational domains or specialized software packages • Nice to have: familiarity with benchmark or evaluation design • Nice to have: background in scientific teaching or exam/problem-set design • Nice to have: experience with computational reproducibility and containerized environments
