📋 Description

• Serve as the primary database subject matter expert for a mission-critical statewide education data project for the Texas Education Agency and Texas Student Data System • Architect, optimize, and maintain complex database pipelines processing data across more than 1,200 public school districts • Design, implement, and maintain advanced Oracle SQL and PL/SQL packages, procedures, and functions • Profile query plans and tune database operations to minimize SGA, PGA, and Temporary Space consumption • Develop data-manipulation routines for querying, transforming, and persisting JSON structures within Oracle tables and relational views • Develop data-mapping pipelines across Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL ecosystems • Collaborate with Java and .NET application engineers to diagnose integration bottlenecks and database interaction issues • Conduct development and unit testing, design test cases, and maintain complete technical documentation • Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release deployments • Ensure schema changes and database enhancements meet client software development standards

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of enterprise database and systems experience • Deep expertise in Oracle SQL and advanced PL/SQL programming • Practical experience with bulk collect, partitioned structures, and complex data modeling • Database performance tuning and optimization experience, including SGA, PGA, and TempSpace utilization • Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server and relational database systems • End-to-end unit testing, comprehensive test case design, and technical system documentation experience • Continuous experience delivering database features in Agile or Scrum workflows • 4+ years of specialized JSON and optimization experience • Experience storing, parsing, querying, and manipulating JSON payloads directly within Oracle tables • Ability to design complex analytical queries and high-performance views sourcing from JSON data • Experience tuning stored procedures and views interacting with nested JSON structures • Preferred: 5+ years using Jira • Preferred: 5+ years using Bitbucket/Git • Preferred: 2+ years with Nomad workload orchestration • Preferred: 2+ years supporting TSDS or comparable large-scale state agency education platforms • Familiarity with JasperReports, enterprise ETL orchestration tools, or Java/.NET integration hooks
