📋 Description

• Design, build, and integrate server and platform infrastructure supporting core organizational functions • Lead medium-to-large initiatives spanning multiple teams • Improve delivery quality through automation and standards • Partner with developers and stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions • Shape Rocket’s next-generation Data Platform infrastructure across AWS, on-premises systems, and enterprise data services • Support current systems while developing tools, standards, documentation, and guardrails for future infrastructure • Lead design and implementation of platform solutions meeting organizational outcomes and non-functional requirements • Contribute to reference architectures and review designs for reliability, performance, and cost • Investigate complex issues, perform root-cause analyses, and implement preventative patterns and guardrails • Collaborate with developers and clients on Windows, Linux, and .NET-based workloads • Manage and improve source control, CI/CD, packaging, and artifact-management toolchains • Design and operate hybrid, multi-cloud solutions across AWS, Azure or GCP, and on-premises environments • Engineer resilient hybrid connectivity and data services • Recommend workload placement based on performance, cost, compliance, and latency • Implement consistent identity, secrets, and policy patterns across clouds and data centers • Implement Infrastructure as Code and configuration management • Use AI copilots and agents for scripting, documentation, testing, incident triage, and change planning while validating outputs • Build or integrate AI-powered internal tools with logging and guardrails • Promote safe AI practices including data classification, prompt hygiene, redaction, and auditability • Define and track SLIs/SLOs and build actionable alerts and dashboards • Perform capacity planning, performance engineering, resilience testing, and disaster recovery exercises • Apply security practices including least privilege, encryption, patching baselines, and policy-as-code • Provide tier-3 support and participate in on-call rotations • Create reusable modules, images, and patterns for other teams • Lead working sessions, brown bags, and Communities of Practice • Optimize platform cost and efficiency through rightsizing, autoscaling, reservations, and lifecycle policies • Mentor systems engineers and provide technical coaching, code/design reviews, and onboarding support

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in workstation or server administration • 3+ years of experience in systems engineering delivering production solutions • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience) • Proficiency with Microsoft Office • Familiarity with documentation and work management tools such as Confluence/Jira • Strong scripting/automation skills with PowerShell and Bash • Proficiency in at least one higher-level language: .NET, Python, or Go • Knowledge of Windows and Linux servers, virtualization, and containerization such as Kubernetes/Docker • Knowledge of SAN/LAN, load balancing, and hybrid connectivity including VPN, Direct Connect, and ExpressRoute • Experience operating in AWS and at least one additional cloud (Azure or GCP), plus on-prem data center environments • Practical experience using AI-powered tools with attention to security and data governance • Infrastructure as Code skills with Terraform, CloudFormation, or Bicep • CI/CD experience for infrastructure and configurations • Observability tooling experience with logs, metrics, and traces • Knowledge of reliability concepts including SLOs and error budgets • Knowledge of code development practices or equivalent enterprise application integration experience • Experience supporting production infrastructure in hybrid cloud and on-premises environments • Working understanding of networking, identity, access, and connectivity fundamentals • Demonstrated automation mindset and ability to improve repetitive processes through scripting, IaC, configuration management, and CI/CD • Ability to apply security, access control, change management, documentation, validation, and operational readiness practices • Experience supporting data platforms, analytics infrastructure, ETL/ELT systems, reporting platforms, data lakes, data warehouses, or high-throughput database environments • Experience building reusable infrastructure patterns, self-service workflows, automated runbooks, service catalog items, observability capabilities, Kubernetes/container platforms, or internal platform capabilities • Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools while protecting sensitive data • Ability to participate in on-call rotations, potentially including nights and weekends
