📋 Description

• Lead the engineering team behind internal integrations, automation, and AI-native workflows powering Core IT • Set the team's technical roadmap and ensure high velocity and throughput • Own orchestration tooling, agentic workflows, and system connections that remove manual work company-wide • Build and maintain automation serving service organization, identity, and other internal functions • Evaluate and adopt automation and AI tooling • Manage engineers in the US and India and grow team capabilities • Unify technical direction, roadmap, metrics, and engineering strategy across reporting lines • Establish overlap hours, handoffs, and shared delivery across US and India time zones • Partner with ServiceOps and Business Operations leadership on automation and self-service opportunities • Translate operational needs into technical requirements and prioritize automation use cases • Champion Samsara's cultural principles

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, or automation engineering • 3+ years directly managing engineers • Experience managing a globally distributed engineering team across multiple time zones, including India • Hands-on experience with workflow automation and orchestration tooling, such as Selenium or Workato • Experience building integrations across enterprise systems • Track record of setting technical direction and a shared roadmap • Proficiency in Python and JavaScript • Ability to read and review pull requests and evaluate architecture decisions • Knowledge of CI/CD, TDD, and GitHub best practices • Experience evaluating or deploying AI-driven or agentic automation tools in production • Experience building integrations and automation serving other teams' platforms and workflows • Experience with ITSM and ticketing platforms such as Zendesk and Jira • Experience with Okta, Google Workspace, Atlassian Jira/Confluence, and Slack • Experience with corporate security and compliance programs, including SOX, FedRAMP, GDPR, or CCPA
