📋 Description

• Support a large federal government healthcare modernization project for the Department of Veterans Affairs • Provide SQL development, data analysis, reporting, and data quality monitoring for electronic health record modernization initiatives • Develop, maintain, and optimize advanced SQL queries, scripts, and transformation logic in SQL Server environments • Analyze and interpret healthcare data from multiple systems • Identify trends and anomalies • Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, Excel, and related business intelligence tools • Collaborate with developers, data engineers, and program stakeholders on data flows, source-to-target mappings, transformation requirements, and data models • Develop and maintain data quality monitoring processes, validation routines, and reconciliation reports • Assess data completeness, accuracy, consistency, and timeliness throughout migration and EHR modernization activities • Investigate data discrepancies and perform exploratory data analysis and root cause investigations • Document findings and maintain data dictionaries, mapping specifications, runbooks, and validation protocols • Support recurring reporting deliverables • Evaluate AI-assisted tools for SQL optimization, automated data quality checks, anomaly detection, and technical documentation • Validate generated outputs and maintain data security and quality standards • Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and project success

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or another engineering or technical discipline, or eight (8) years of additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience • Strong hands-on experience developing advanced SQL queries, scripts, and data extraction processes using Microsoft SQL Server • Experience working with large, complex datasets and optimizing query performance • Experience analyzing healthcare or clinical datasets • Familiarity with healthcare data standards and systems such as HL7, FHIR, or VistA • Experience supporting data validation, transformation, and integration activities • Understanding of relational database structures, data modeling, indexing, normalization, and performance tuning • Experience developing reports and visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, or Microsoft Excel • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills • Ability to identify data discrepancies, investigate root causes, and ensure data accuracy and integrity • Strong written and verbal communication, documentation, and collaboration skills • Ability to present technical findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders and work within multidisciplinary teams • Previous experience supporting Department of Veterans Affairs healthcare data systems, including VX130, Oracle Health Millennium, or the Corporate Data Warehouse (CDW) • Familiarity with InterSystems IRIS, Caché, mirrored database architectures, or EHR data migration and cutover verification activities • Experience working within Agile development environments using JIRA, Azure DevOps, or similar tools • Knowledge of healthcare data governance, metadata management, source-to-target mapping, data quality monitoring, and technical documentation practices • Experience using AI-assisted tools such as GitHub Copilot • Understanding of AI output validation, PHI/PII protection, and responsible AI practices within federal healthcare environments • U.S. Citizenship is required • All selected candidates must successfully complete a background check • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government/Public Trust clearance, including required fingerprinting, when required for the position • Sorry, we are unable to offer sponsorship at this time
