• Reporting to the Director, Custom Managed Services & Tools, the Solutions Engineer (Network) is responsible for assisting in the design, implementation, operation, evolution, and maintenance of all aspects of ThinkOn’s technologies supporting production and internal operations • The Solutions Engineer (Network) plays an integral role in support, planning, development, and future growth • Responsible for planning, implementing, directing, and administering network infrastructure • Remote-first organization welcoming candidates from Canada for this position
• 3+ years of professional experience in a network engineer or equivalent position • 3+ years of professional experience with large enterprise and/or service provider-level networks • Extensive knowledge of layer 2 – 3 network technologies (QoS, Netflow, QinQ, 802.1x, ISIS, OPSF, BGP, VRRP, VRF, IRB, MSTP, STP, LACP) • Juniper JNCIP-ENT/JNCIE-ENT or equivalent network certification (Juniper MX, EX, QFX hardware, Cisco CCNP/CCIE would also be considered) • Firewall Security and Administration (Juniper SRX of PFSense platforms) • Experience with HPE C7000 Chassis configuration (Virtual Connect Configuration) or Cisco FEX • Cisco ACI is considered an asset • CheckPoint and FortiGate are considered an asset • VMware ESXi platform knowledge is considered an asset
• Support, security, and maintenance of network infrastructure to maintain a multi-site cloud infrastructure • Ensure the operational stability of the network • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex network issues • Provide Level 2-3+ support for any network or security issues, including escalations from the Service Desk team • Participate with the team in change and incident management processes; provide root cause analysis for service distributions • Investigate possible security breaches as part of the incident management team • Maintain a comprehensive level of documentation that reflects the current network environment • Perform installations, configurations, maintenance, and operations of any new or existing network infrastructure devices to support the cloud environment • Work with multiple teams to identify and resolve bottlenecks or other network configuration issues • Provide coverage and throughput planning for networks including the appropriate network architecture and structure • Provide 24/7 on-call support for Priority 1 Critical Issues • Provide guidance on other technologies and evaluate their impact on the network infrastructure
