📋 Description

• Define and drive the technical vision for Implementation Platform Configuration and Enrollment Platform Core • Provide architectural oversight across configuration, enrollment workflow, and event-sourced domain services • Favor configuration-driven patterns to make carrier implementations less costly and faster • Lead initiatives across teams and resolve ownership ambiguity • Own delivery commitments to carrier partners, including UAT handoff dates • Represent status accurately to executive leadership • Partner with Product, Delivery Management, Underwriting, and Compliance to identify requirements and dependencies • Drive incident urgency, root-cause analysis, systemic issue detection, and follow-up actions • Establish a scalable automated testing strategy with readable outcomes and repeatable regression runs • Lead, mentor, and develop Engineering Managers; manage performance and succession depth • Own hiring funnels and manage contractor and vendor partners • Set AI adoption strategy, drive AI tooling and AI-first delivery practices, and establish standards for AI-generated code • Represent Bestow with carrier partners, vendors, and technology companies during due diligence and negotiations • Report to the VP of Engineering and manage a group of Engineering Managers

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience • 8+ years of professional software development experience • 5+ years of progressive engineering management experience, including managing managers • Experience leading 2 to 3 Engineering Managers and approximately 20 to 30 engineers • Proven ability to design, build, and operate microservices architectures at scale • Experience with event-driven and event-sourced designs • Experience with Golang and/or Python backend services • API design experience using gRPC and REST • Experience with asynchronous messaging patterns • Extensive PostgreSQL experience, including schema design, data modeling, and query performance • Cloud platform experience, preferably Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes • Transformed at least one team to fully embrace agentic engineering • Ability to reason about frontend composition, data platforms, and infrastructure • Ability to contribute changes to codebases and engage in architectural decisions • Advocacy for automated testing and test-driven development • Ability to define metrics, drive accountability, and meet dates and SLAs across multiple teams • Ability to attract, hire, mentor, and retain engineering talent • Ability to explain complex systems and trade-offs to executives, carrier partners, and engineers • Life insurance, annuities, or other regulated-industry experience is a strong plus, not required • Experience delivering implementations for enterprise or carrier partners under contractual dates is a strong plus, not required • Must be eligible to work in the United States; Bestow uses E-Verify to confirm employment eligibility
