📋 Description

• Design application components using modern software engineering practices • Create logical and physical data models aligned with business and system requirements • Architect, optimize, and manage relational Oracle database models for performance, scalability, and reliability • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into technical designs and actionable development tasks • Define APIs, services, and integrations supporting data-driven workflows across systems • Conduct performance tuning, query optimization, indexing strategies, and normalization/denormalization decisions • Implement data governance, data quality, and security best practices • Provide requirement clarifications to development teams • Document system architecture, data dictionaries, schemas, and code changes • Support Customs and Border Protection’s Revenue Modernization program by transforming paper collections processing into electronic solutions

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent • 8+ years of related work experience as a software engineer or similar • Experience with database modeling tools and methodologies, including ER modeling, dimensional modeling, and schema design • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, C#, or JavaScript/TypeScript • Hands-on experience with SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL • Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP and managed database services • Experience using Jira, Confluence, or similar DevSecOps solutions • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills • Excellent communication skills and ability to translate complex concepts for business and technical audiences • US citizenship required • Clearance level currently possessed: None • Clearance level able to obtain: None • Public Trust/Other Required: MBI Full 5C (T3) • Preferred: experience with data warehousing, ETL/ELT, analytics pipelines, microservices architecture, event-driven systems, data privacy and compliance frameworks, Docker, Kubernetes, and highly available distributed systems
