📋 Description

• Own uptime, performance, and resilience across NBA platform services • Identify and resolve bottlenecks, failure points, and scaling constraints before incidents occur • Write and ship production code alongside the team as a significant individual contributor • Build and maintain automated testing infrastructure across unit, integration, load, and end-to-end layers • Establish testing standards and ensure delivery pods meet quality requirements • Own logging, alerting, and monitoring practices for production visibility • Design and enforce error-handling patterns across platform services • Evaluate platform components under load and lead scalability engineering efforts • Define and enforce handoff quality gates for services and features moving to production • Manage quality and reliability engineers and contractor resources within the pod • Coordinate with delivery pod leads to identify quality and reliability concerns early • Communicate quality risks to engineering leads and senior leadership • Participate in occasional travel to Humana offices for training or meetings

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field • 2+ years of project leadership experience • 5+ years of full stack software engineering experience • 1–2 years focused on platform reliability, software quality, or site reliability engineering • 5+ years of progressive technology experience as a senior developer in large technology projects • Hands-on experience building and owning automated testing infrastructure, including unit, integration, load, and end-to-end testing • Strong understanding of structured logging, distributed tracing, metrics, and alerting • Experience designing and enforcing error handling and failure management patterns across distributed systems • Ability to lead a small team or pod through delivery and manage contractor resources • Ability to work across Java, Python, Node.js, and TypeScript • Strong communication skills for articulating quality risk to engineering leads and senior leadership • Passion for continuously improving consumer experiences • Comfort using AI productivity tools such as Claude or Copilot • Strong plus: residence in Boston, MA • Master's degree is a strong plus • Experience with Kubernetes-based platforms and container-level reliability and scaling • Familiarity with Kafka and event-driven architectures • Background in healthcare, insurance, or other regulated industries • Experience with chaos engineering or fault injection testing • Familiarity with Azure DevOps pipelines and CI/CD quality gates • Ability to work typical Monday–Friday business hours, 8 hours per day • Home internet with at least 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speeds • Dedicated workspace without ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI/HIPAA information
