📋 Description

• Work on the core infrastructure powering Arbitrum, the leading Ethereum scaling solution • Tackle complex distributed systems challenges, optimize performance, and contribute to Arbitrum’s security and scalability • Collaborate with research, product, and blockchain engineering teams • Provide ongoing technical support and engineering guidance to clients and internal stakeholders by diagnosing and resolving core platform engineering issues • Maintain the Nitro Testnode product, including implementing enhancements, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring reliability and usability • Conduct peer code reviews to ensure code quality, architectural consistency, and adherence to software engineering best practices • Establish and evangelize backend architectural standards, technology-stack selection, and engineering best practices • Design high-performance compiler pipelines and extensible SDK frameworks • Collaborate with Security to resolve complex security issues and identify potential threats and vulnerabilities • Drive the technical roadmap with Product for complex distributed systems and data modeling • Oversee integration of multiple microservices, database scalability and integrity under high load, and API-first strategies for long-term system interoperability

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, or a related field, plus 5 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, Software Architect, or any occupation, job title, position designing, developing, and securing blockchain-based backend systems • In lieu of a Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of experience, a Master's degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, or a related field, plus 3 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, Software Architect, or any occupation, job title, position designing, developing, and securing blockchain-based backend systems • 3 years of professional experience developing backend systems utilizing backend programming languages, including Go or Rust • 3 years working on protocols that span from L1s to L2s, including when the system is trying to reduce dependence on L1 smart contracts • 3 years of professional experience collaborating with research teams to conduct cutting-edge research in blockchain technologies and cryptocurrency platforms • 3 years of professional experience building distributed systems, focusing on reliable broadcast protocols, distributed data structures, and high-performance database storage engines • 3 years of professional experience working in collaboration with security and with coding in a security-focused mindset in distributed systems environments • 3 years of professional experience working with blockchain protocols • 1 year of experience working with WebAssembly, including writing high performant and high security code in production environments • 1 year of professional experience utilizing cloud infrastructure and containerization technologies, including AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes • Must reside in the U.S. • This role cannot be performed in California or Colorado
