📋 Description

• Own mobile technical strategy and architecture for the member app across iOS and Android. • Lead hands-on delivery of the rebuilt member app alongside the new brand, writing production code and setting engineering patterns. • Set standards for app architecture, state and offline data handling, performance, accessibility, testing, and code review. • Build automated build, test, and release pipelines, including code signing, phased rollouts, feature flags, over-the-air updates, app store review, and weekly crash-free-rate and performance reporting. • Design secure authentication and on-device PHI handling, including biometrics, session management, secure storage, and HIPAA-aligned logging and analytics. • Architect health and device data integrations using Apple HealthKit, Android Health Connect, and third-party wearables APIs. • De-risk mobile architecture bets, including safe AI-enabled member features and AI-assisted app development. • Collaborate with the Senior Product Manager, Senior UX Designer, Clinical leaders, and Engineering leaders. • Use product analytics, experimentation, and member feedback to drive engagement and retention. • Mentor, pair with, and conduct design reviews for front-end and mobile engineers.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field; advanced degree a plus. • 12–15 years of software engineering experience, including 7+ years building and shipping native mobile apps and a track record of owning mobile architecture through significant scale or growth. • Deep, hands-on expertise in native iOS: Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, Swift concurrency, and Xcode. • Deep, hands-on expertise in native Android: Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines and Flow, and Gradle. • Shipped and scaled at least one consumer B2C or B2B2C mobile health, wellness, or fitness app with a large active user base. • Strong product instincts for onboarding, engagement, and retention. • Experience integrating Apple HealthKit, Android Health Connect, Bluetooth LE, or third-party wearables APIs. • Deep expertise in mobile security and compliance, including HIPAA-aligned PHI handling, OAuth 2.0/OIDC, biometrics, and encrypted local storage. • Proven mobile release discipline using CI/CD, automated testing, crash and performance monitoring, and app store release management. • Proven technical leadership, architectural decision-making across teams, growing senior engineers, and partnering with Product, Design, and Clinical leaders. • Preferred: Production experience with React Native and TypeScript, including Fabric, TurboModules, and native module development. • Preferred: Experience leading a mobile app rebuild or re-platform. • Preferred: Experience shipping AI- or LLM-powered features in a consumer mobile app. • Preferred: Familiarity with FDA digital health boundaries and App Store health data policies. • Preferred: Experience in a startup or growth-stage environment.
